There were 225 Platinum, Gold, current and wannabe Loopers gathered at Joe Wheeler State Park for the 2014 Fall Looper Rendezvous. The marina was full with 55 or more boats of all sizes, all flying their white, gold or platinum AGLCA burgees.
The highlight of the week for us was the dinghy race. I was the navigator and sat in the bow. Al was blindfolded and had to run the engine in reverse. Due to my perfect directions we ran the course flawlessly. The results were presented that night at dinner. We ran the course in the best time and were declared champions. Yeah!
On Wednesday night the group was loaded onto a school bus and taken to a former cotton gin for a local country music concert and dinner. Everyone had a good time and it was fun to experience the old cotton gin.
Friday morning we'll get a real early start and try to beat the mad rush of everyone leaving the rendezvous. We'll backtrack down the Tennessee River and head for the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
