Joe Wheeler State Park

The day started out rainy and cloudy. By the afternoon the sun came out and it was really beautiful. We traveled through 2 locks, the Wilson Lock and the Wheeler Lock.

The Wilson Lock is the highest single lift lock east of the Rockies, and it stands as the largest mass concrete lock and dam ever built in the U.S. It was the first project of it's type attempted on the Tennessee River.

We went to Joe Wheeler State Park and went to our assigned slip. We'll stay here until after the rendezvous on October 17. Al went to pick up our rental car while I gave Hooper a bath.

We're here early for the rendezvous so most of the slips are empty now. Next week every slip will be filled.
