Port of Orillia

After a stressful day yesterday we wanted to take it easy today. We were anxious to get underway because we needed to know if we would have an overheating problem. We left the narrow channel & once we were in the main canal we stopped to let any weeds fall off. The engine temperature was good so we continued to Lake Simcoe. We went to cruising speed and everything was fine.

Lake Simcoe is 20 miles long & 16 miles wide. It is the largest lake on the Trent-Severn Waterway. There are several warning signs about how rough this lake can get in bad weather. The lake was a little rough, but no problem.

We went to the Port of Orillia Marina. This is a nice big marina in the town of Orillia. Couchiching Beach Park borders the marina. We relaxed for awhile, washed the whole boat, and then went grocery shopping. Even though the store is right across the street, it's still a big effort without a car.

Inlet to Lake Simcoe.  It was cloudy & rainy all morning
