Had an easy day today. Drove 19 miles and went through 6 locks, numbers 13-18. 17 & 18 were a double lock, but not as impressive as the last one. It was cloudy most of the day & cool. That made it comfortable to go through the locks. We had a slow boat in front of us, so we only went 6-7 mph all day. Stayed on the lock wall in the town of Hastings. It's a small, quiet town, but there's lot's of action by the lock. Almost watched a large boat get sucked into the dam/spillway. They misjudged the current, missed the dock & started to get swept away. The only thing that saved them was the safety cable that's stretched across the river. Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be to much damage done to the boat.
We're really starting to see alot of "looper" boats. We parked right in front of another looper boat & when we met them, we found out that they come from Amityville.
Tomorrow we'll head to Peterborough. We'll go 38 miles, but only go through one lock. It'll feel good to take a break from the locks.
Waiting for the first lock of the day to open.
