We decided to head to Petoskey instead of Beaver Island because of the weather. Bad weather is on the way and we thought it would be better to be in a bigger town instead of an isolated island. It got a little rough when we were in Grays Reef Passage, but the rest of the lake was extremely calm. We went to the Petoskey Municipal Marina. We filled up with fuel. We took 215.9 gallons at $4.09/gallon for a total of $883.14.
We were running low on supplies, so we looked on the map and saw that a Walmart Super Center was only 1.9 miles away. What the map didn't tell us was that is was 1.9 miles up steep hills. We took our bikes & made it up the mountain. Of course it had to start raining when we got half way on our journey. We were soaking wet, but at least we got a beautiful view of Lake Michigan when we finally made it to the top.
Next we'll head to Charlevoix.
We went under Mackinac Bridge & into the Straits of Mackinac
Passed a big ship on the way
White Shoal Light
Grays Reef Light
Breakwater for the marina
Bear River
Bike trail along the Bear River

No pictures today, it was grey and rained all day. It was blowing a gale and it was cold. We needed to put the heat on in the boat. The NOAA weather bouy was showing 5ft. waves on Lake Michigan. All the locals tell us not to venture out on the Lake if the waves are over 2ft. because they'll beat you up so bad. It got so rough inside the marina, that it was tough to sleep last night, and we were having trouble standing upright on the boat. We moved the boat to a slip that was more protected. It was much better, but not great. Hopefully it calms down enough so we can leave tomorrow.
