Leland

8/15/14-8/16/14
Another rough day on Lake Michigan. Ugh! This is getting old fast!
It was a nice sunny day, but the waves were much bigger than forecasted. Several other looper boats left at the same time, and once everyone got out onto the lake the talk on the VHF was how the waves were bigger than expected. So once again we were rolling back & forth, taking spray over the bimini, and Hooper was drooling non-stop. We were greatful to get inside the breakwater of Leland Harbor.

Leland is known for it's historic "Fish Town", which is a National Landmark District, and is located next door to the town marina. Fish town is home to an authentic Great Lakes fishing tug. Ancient ice and fish shanties now house an operating fish house and specialty shops.

The next stop will be Frankfort.
