Hessel Marina

We left the marina and went out through the De Tour Passage Inlet into Lake Huron. We went past the De Tour Reef Lighthouse and the Martin Reef Lighthouse. We then headed for Les Cheneaux Islands. Les Cheneaux Islands are located along the northwest shore of Lake Huron. Cheneaux is the French translation of the Indian word for "channels". There are more than 100 islands. We made our way through the islands via some very narrow channels. At least now there is a sandy bottom and not rocks. We saw some very beautiful homes, and it seems like every dock has an old wooden classic Chris Craft. We went to the town of Hessel, Michigan and stayed at the Hessel Marina. Initially they told us they only had one slip left without electric. This weekend is their big antique wooden boat show & no slips are available. When we arrived they found us a nice slip with electric.

Tomorrow we head for Mackinaw Island.
