Baie Fine

7/31/14
We woke up to rain, so we slept late, went out to breakfast & waited for the weather to clear. It started to clear up around 11:00 so we headed out. We headed to Baie Fine. Baie Fine is one of the few fjords in North America. We headed all the way in and anchored in The Pool at the far end. I hiked a trail through the woods to Topaz Lake, which has beautiful turquoise water surrounded by mountains. I read that the color of the water comes from runoff of an abandoned nikel mine on the other side of the hill. Because of the runoff, nothing grows in the lake, no vegetation or algae, but it sure gives it a pretty blue color. We ended the evening with a campfire on shore.

Next we plan to head to the town of Little Current. We hear the town is having their big summer festival all weekend with activities all day, boat parades & fireworks. After being out in the boondocks, it'll be good to see some activity. Hopefully there will be a variety of different foods. The areas that we have traveled through are known for fish & chips, and we're sick of fish & chips.
