Back in the USA

We're happy to be back in the USA today. We left Blind River early, crossed the North Channel, and went to Drummond Island Yacht Haven in Michigan to clear customs. The wind and waves were much worse than forecasted, so we did quite a bit of rocking & rolling. Magically when we were back in the U.S. the wind & waves died, the sun came out, it was much warmer, and the water became a pretty turquoise color. Canada was nice, but it's better in America.

It was no problem clearing customs, and the Customs Agents were very pleasant. There were 4 other boats at the marina with us to clear customs. We were number 2 in line. The whole process took 40 minutes. The Customs Agents were impressed by how clean Al keeps the engine room. They were also surprised to see a washer/dryer under the stairs.

After we cleared customs we went to DeTour State Harbor Marina in DeTour Village, Michigan. We met several "Gold Loopers" who gave us good suggestions about places to see on Lake Michigan.

Tomorrow we plan to head to Les Cheneaux (The Channel) Islands.

Leaving Blind River at sunrise

This is the only marina in the area to clear customs

By late afternoon the docks were filled with Gold Loopers
