Southport, NC

I was up early this morning and took Hooper for a walk on the beach. I was surprised to see the beach and Surf City Pier filled with fisherman. I saw several beach fisherman reel in large stripers. I guess this is a real hot spot for fishing.

We had an easy cruising day and the weather was good. We hit the tide right on the Cape Fear River and the current pushed us quickly down the river. We wanted to stop in Southport to see our friends from the Loop, Marc and Jane, from Average Looper. When we got to Southport the problem was that the marinas were full and didn't have room for us. We never experienced the problem of the marinas in an area being full before. We were lucky to find a spot at the dock of the Provision Company Restaurant. We were able to meet our friends and got free dockage. It all worked out great.
