Chesapeake City, MD

We were stuck in Cape May for two days because of bad weather. The weather finally looked good, so we planned to leave early, to take advantage of the currents. Delaware Bay has never been kind to us. Finally today it was calm and we were comfortable. We were able to travel the whole day with the current. We were going at 11.5 mph. That's really speeding for us!

We went through the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, known as the C & D Canal. We pulled into Chesapeake City, which has a marina, anchorage and free dock. All the reviews said that the free dock has shoaled in, and that it was unusable. As usually, Al was feeling lucky, and determined to stay at the free dock. We pulled in, and went to the free dock without problem. We might be sitting on the bottom at low tide, but we'll worry about that later.

The town of Chesapeake City is extremely small and old, but very cute. I'm so glad we stopped here!
