Georgia

The day started out great. It was sunny, but cool. The forecast was for west wind 5-10 mph. We thought it would be a good day to head offshore & get further south a little quicker.
BIG BIG MISTAKE!!
We headed out & there was only a small chop. We planned to head into Sapelo, Georgia. While we were offshore the wind picked up to 25 mph & the waves just grew bigger & bigger. We & the boat really took a beating. Everything inside the boat was tossed & turned over. Hooper, the big dolphin hunter, forgot the dolphin & was just happy to stay upright. We couldn't take it anymore & decided to head into a closer inlet. We headed in, but it really took a long time for the water to calm down. I wasn't sure a Mainship could handle such big seas. We were so happy to be in calm water again. Not only did we take a beating, but now we were also out of fuel & limping along on fumes. ( I wanted Al to fill up in Beaufort, but he wanted to make it one more day).

We ended up at The Landings Marina in Delegal Creek, Georgia. It's the only marina for miles. The marina & surrounding area are beautiful. Glad we ended up here. We'll get fuel tomorrow. It will be awhile before we head offshore again!
