The day started out sunny & cold, but got very warm in the afternoon. The waterway is very narrow & rocky in this section. We went into the Waccamaw River, which is freshwater. It eventually got very wide with deep water, so we could relax & enjoy ourselves without worrying about hitting rocks. We went past Cyprus swamps & rice plantations.
We experienced our first mechanical problems. First we heard the squeal of a loose belt. We tied to a pole, Al went into the engine room & tightened the belt, no problem. A short time later the A/C unit stopped pumping water. We shut the unit off until we pulled into port at the end of the day. Al again went into the bilge, lowered the A/C pump & then used the hose to prime the system. In the process of priming the system Al managed to get himself soaking wet, he wasn't too happy at this point. Fixing the belt was easy. Fixing the A/C unit took a lot more blood, sweat & almost tears from me, because Al kept asking me to help him. I guess it's true, you buy a boat to fix it in beautiful scenic ports. Bottom line is everything is working!
We ended up in Georgetown,SC at Harbor Walk Marina. It's a nice marina & a great small Southern town.
Tomorrow we head for Charleston, SC.
