Oriental

Wow, what a big change in the weather! Things really cooled off after the thunderstorms last night. After so many days of being uncomfortably hot, we woke up this morning to 60 degree temperatures. We now have Florida blood so we felt really cold. It was so cold on the flybridge that I had on long pants, 2 sweatshirts and a scarf around my neck, and still felt cold. Al was determined to wear shorts in honor of my father who was famous for saying, "Why wear pants, legs don't get cold". He wouldn't admit it, but I know he was freezing. He suggested we run the boat from inside so I could warm up.

When we got to Oriental we first went up Whittaker Creek to Deaton Yacht Service to pick up parts that we had ordered for our refrigerator. The drawer slides on the fridge and freezer broke when we got hit by the huge wake of a tugboat on the St. John's River. I was in the cabin making lunch so the lock on the fridge door was off. I couldn't see the wake, but we rolled so severely that both drawers came flying out and broke the slides. Al installed the new pieces and now it's as good as new.

We then went to the downtown area in Oriental and stayed at the free town dock.

Saw some cool clouds in the morning

The hat will keep him warm

I'm freezing!

That's my boy looking for me as I take off on my bike

Saw this on my bike ride through town

Wish there was still spring water here
