Myrtle Beach

We left Georgetown early so that the current would be with us all the way to Myrtle Beach. We were in the Waccamaw River which is one of the prettiest rivers on the whole trip. We saw turtles along the shore and several alligators in the middle of the waterway.

We pulled into Osprey Marina to get fuel. They had the best price in the area for diesel at $2.55/gallon. We needed 205 gallons. While Al was filling the boat, I took Hooper for a walk. We were amazed to find a field of goats behind the marina. Later in the day we saw someone with a pet chimpanzee in their backyard.

It was another very hot and sunny day. It really has been too hot lately. We finally gave in to the heat, and drove the boat from inside with the generator on to run the air conditioners. It was nice and cool and we were much more comfortable.

We stopped at Barefoot Landing Marina in Myrtle Beach. There are many gift shops and restaurants here. We went to happy hour at the Flying Fish Restaurant. The food was great. After dinner we took Hooper for a walk. One of the shops here has tigers on display and you can get your picture taken with them. The tigers were laying down looking bored until they saw Hooper. Once they saw Hooper they got very excited and looked like they were stalking him. I think they thought they were looking at their dinner. They were so riled up that I was nervous that their enclosure wouldn't hold them. Hooper also got very excited when he saw the tigers and barked ferociously at them. He couldn't believe cats could get that big. I wish I could have gotten a picture of this crazy scene.

Al grabbed the turtle and put him on the dock. The turtle hopped back in the water quickly.
