Alligator River Marina

The weather was perfect today. We had an easy, but somewhat boring day. We went through the Alligator River - Pungo River Canal. The canal was long and straight with lot's of wilderness. There wasn't much to see. We didn't even see many other boats today. The canal was dug in the 1950's, and its main purpose was as a drainage ditch for the nearby farm fields.

The last time we came through here the Alligator River Bridge couldn't open to let us through because they were working on the bridge swing mechanism. Back then, Al lowered our mast, antennas and bimini top so that we could sneak under the side span. Today the bridge had no trouble opening, and we went through the normal way.

We stopped at the Alligator River Marina. It's basically a truck stop that is located on the water so they also have boat slips.

We're in the same slip as last time.

We requested this slip because it's next to a big field so Hooper can run free.
