Eau Gallie

This morning I saw a beautiful sunrise (in the Sunrise City), with big dark rain clouds just to the south of the sunrise. We waited to get underway today until after the rain past. After the rain we were treated to a pretty rainbow. While traveling on the Intracoastal today, to the east of the waterway there was sun and blue skies, while to the west there was dark rain clouds.

Just south of Vero Beach we saw a sailboat that veered just slightly out of the channel and got stuck on a sandbar. He called us on the VHF and asked if we could speed up to throw a big wake to help him get into deeper water. We sped up and our wake helped him move a little, but he was still stuck. We turned around to give him another pass. This time Al went wide open and steered a little closer to the sailboat. This time our big wake lifted him right off the bottom and into deep water.

We stopped at Eau Gallie, which is part of Melbourne and stayed at Eau Gallie Yacht Basin. It's a quiet area with great big trees and pretty homes.

After dinner on the boat Al took Hooper for a long walk. While they were out another boat owner came to the marina with his dog. He left the dog on the dock. Al & Hooper had to pas this dog on the dock to get back to our boat. You assume if someone has their dog on the dock that it is friendly. Well this dog didn't like Hooper. The dogs got into a big vicious fight. Al tried to separate the dogs and got bit several times on his hand. Luckily none of the wounds appear to be too deep, so he should be ok. We'll watch closely to be sure it doesn't get infected. Hooper also got bit, but since he has so much thick fur, it didn't break the skin.

Tomorrow we plan to stop at Titusville and we'll see our good friends Row and Gus from Summerland.

This is why Fort Pierce is called the Sunrise a City

Rain on it's way

A boat left in the mangroves

East side of the waterway was sunny

West side of the waterway was cloudy

Finally we found Dolphins that wanted to play in our wake. Hooper went crazy.

Lot's of houses in this area have boat garages underneath them.
