Everglades City

We left Flamingo & when we got out into the Gulf it was hazy & foggy, so we needed to use the radar. The air was very cold, but at least the water was calm. As the day went on the fog went away, the sun came out & the wind picked up. It got pretty rough. We headed into the Ten Thousand Islands area & went into Everglades City. We had heard great things about The Rod & Gun Club, so we wanted to have dinner there & stay the night. Their dock didn't work for us. They only had side tie-ups, with tall poles that could catch the edge of the overhang of our flybridge, with no protection from boat wakes. We were afraid a boat wake would rock us & damage the boat. We ended up tying to an abandoned floating dock by the airport & had dinner on the boat.

We plan to leave early tomorrow & head back to civilization. We plan to stay in Naples. We'll have to stay put a few days because several stormy days with high wind & rain are forecasted.
