Treasure Cay

The weather was perfect on Al's birthday to make the dangerous passage known as The Whale. We had to go out into the ocean to go around Whale Cay. It's a narrow passage with rocks & breaking waves on both sides. There's a whole parade of boats going through today because the weather is good. The waves are about 3-4 ft., but are widely spaced making for a gentle roll.

We pulled into Treasure Cay Marina with Ron & Jane from M/V Rachel. We were so surprised to see Brian & Jean on S/V Clairvoyant come in shortly after us. Their motor is still leaking, but they made the trip anyway.

Treasure Cay is known for it's crescent shaped sugar-sand beach. It sure is beautiful! The sand is so white & soft it's like powder. We will celebrate Al's birthday in the restaurant at the marina tonight. No one can believe he is turning 45 & retired.

Wednesday was pizza night at the marina. People from every boat & house in the area came to have Bahamian pizza & listen to live music. The pizza was pretty good & so was the entertainment.

On Thursday we left Treasure Cay & headed for Man O War Cay. Our friends are staying at Treasure Cay for several more days. We've spent so much time with them it feels strange to leave them behind, but we want to go to a smaller town.
